What is Reiki?
'Reiki' is Japanese. 'Rei' means 'universal', and 'ki' means 'life force energy'. You could say 'sacred energy'.
Reiki is a natural therapy and hands-on healing technique. It gently balances, realigns and recharges the body, and triggers the body's natural healing ability.
Where does Reiki come from?
Originating in Japan and Tibet, the Usui method was developed by Dr Mikao Usui. Physicists investigating matter conclude that underlying matter, in all forms, is energy. Energy vibrates at different rates, thus some objects appear more dense and solid than others. Our body is created from the same energy as that of a mountain. As incomprehensible as it may seem, that which is fragile is from the same source as that which is dense.
All things in the universe are from one energy source; thus all things are connected, and interact and influence each other as one gigantic body.
How does Reiki work?
Reiki is a simple, natural healing system.
The practitioner positions their hands at the various energy centres of the body, from head to toe, activating the flow energy or 'chi'.
One may feel a sensation of warmth, a pulsating rhythm, tingling or calmness and relaxation.
Reiki increases our natural life force energy, which normally diminishes with age.
It brings a state of balance, as yin and yang, on all levels - mind, body and soul.
